Sheriff Shane Jones has released the name of the victim in the homicide, which took place Monday, June 3rd. Jeremy Wayne Davis, age 41, was found deceased by Pope County Deputies at a residence in Hector. Jason Royalty was taken into custody at the scene and appeared before Judge Don Bourne on Wednesday, June 5th. His bond was set at $150,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Pope County Circuit Court on July 1st.

The Pope County Sheriff’s Office received a call on Monday, June 3rd at approximately 10:15 p.m. of a shooting at a residence in Hector. Upon arrival, deputies located the body of a deceased male. Jason Royalty was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Pope County Detention Center where he is being detained on a charge of 1st Degree Murder. Royalty will go before Judge Don Bourne for a bond hearing Wednesday morning, pending formal charges.
This is an ongoing investigation and no other details will be released at this time. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Sheriff Shane Jones wishes to thank officers and investigators with the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Russellville Police Department, Arkansas State Police and the 5th Judicial Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, who are working together on this case.
