PRESS RELEASE

On Thursday, September 22, 2016, an arrest was made in connection with the murder of Aaron Brock and Beau Dewitt. Tyler Barefield, 35 of Russellville has been charged with two counts of Capital Murder.

Sheriff Shane Jones stated he is very proud of all the investigators and officers involved in bringing such a swift resolution to this murder investigation. Sheriff Jones was gratified by the teamwork exhibited by the agencies involved. The agencies involved are Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, Russellville Police Department, 5th Judicial Drug Task Force, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm Bureau and Prosecuting Attorney David Gibbons. The investigation is ongoing and due to the nature of this crime, no further details will be released. Mr. Barefield will appear before Judge Don Bourne at the Pope County Detention Center Friday, September 23rd for a bond hearing.
